P90X Reviews
Welcome to P90X reviews, where you will find the pros and cons of this famous program. My personal P90X review along with other reviews of P90X.
Here’s a newsflash: most people that workout struggle to achieve their desired results, because they use the wrong machines, don’t target the right areas of the body or perform a routine that has a negligible effect on their overall physique.
But you can’t be blamed for not knowing how to work out effectively; it’s not as if your high school teachers showed a video on the subject.
P90X is a 90-day workout program that delivers results for everyone. This program is based on fitness facts, not fake science or shaky evidence.
Tony Horton created the P90X Program for the everyday person – the type of person who struggles to lose weight, to get toned and to build muscle. P90X is not too pushy, it’s not annoying and it’s not cheesy – it’s a legitimate program that has worked for thousands of people, and it’s very evident as to why.
P90X Workout Review In Two Words: Simple, but Effective
P90X Program’s strategy can be simplified to this: work harder than you ever have in your life, stay dedicated, use your own body weight and eat healthy. To emphasize how simple the P90X Workout is, here are two lists that detail what you’ll receive when you purchase the P90X System and additional items you’ll need:
What comes with the P90X Workout Set:
- 12 workout DVDs. Each DVD targets a different area from your body, from your shoulders and biceps to a toning and intense ab workout.
- 3 fitness guides. P90X allows you to customize your workout and focus on the P90x workout classic, P90x Workout Schedule Doubles.
- Three nutrition plans.
Other items you’ll need:
- Resistance bands or dumbbells.
- Pull-up bar. Tony Horton’s pull-up exercises will strengthen different muscles by focusing on three different grips: wide, neutral and narrow. You could use a set of bands instead of the pull-up bar, just make sure they have the attachment piece to make the connection to the door.
- Yoga mat.
No, the above lists aren’t a mistake – that’s a total of three things you’ll receive from your P90X purchase and three items you’ll need. It doesn’t get any simpler than that. Tony Horton’s P90X utilizes your own body weight in most of the routines; you achieve weight loss and muscle mass without the need for overbearing gym equipment.
So, if you’re thinking that your gym membership is a bit on the expensive side, toss it in the garbage can – you won’t need it again after buying P90X.
P90X Reviews: The P90X Workout Details
Here are the details of the P90X program – the workout plan. To get started, you must choose one of three schedules: classic, lean or doubles. The lean workout is more of an emphasis on cardiovascular, while doubles is a more intense workout that sometimes involves a double workout in one day.
After selecting your schedule, it’s time for the workout to begin. Tony Horton makes it extremely simple to get started. Simply look at your P90X schedule for the workout DVD you’re supposed to use that day. Pop in the DVD and then follow along with Tony as he melts the fat from your body and transforms you into a person who looks good enough to be on the front of a magazine.
The P90X system revolves around three different phases. Tony has you switch to a different phase every 30 days, hence the 90-day workout. After 90 days, you can do it all over again or choose a different P90X workout schedule.
The workouts are extremely intense, and that’s what makes the P90X so effective. You’re going to sweat and you’re going to hurt at the end of the day, but you’re also going to
burn fat, build muscle and tone your body like you never have before. Tony is there to help you learn and keep you going, but he’s not too pushy. His neutral tone is friendly but inspiring. He’s not going to drill you and scream at you, but he will motivate you to push on and fight for your fitness goals.
P90X by Tony Horton Emphasis One Thing: You need to eat healthy
The P90X program, or any workout for that matter, is nothing without a proper diet. Tony Horton’s P90X comes with three different nutrition plans.
- The first plan focuses on foods that shred fat and build muscle, such as protein.
- The second plan focuses on carbohydrates and protein to increase your energy.
- The third plan takes it a step further, increasing your intake of complex carbohydrates while still maintaining a healthy intake of protein.
The provided nutrition guide serves as one of the most important parts of the P90X program. Unless you majored in nutrition, it’s incredibly difficult to understand the foods your body needs to perform at a peak level. Tony takes the guesswork out of your diet and tells you exactly what to eat.
Reviews of P90X will show the following “Pros”
- Well rounded combination of different types of exercise: Plyometrics, Strength Training, Yoga, Cardiovascular,
- Total body workout
- Fun
- Intense
- Provides a nutrition guide
Some of the P90X Workout Reviews will present the following “Cons”
- Could be too intense for someone that has been out of shape for a long time
- Routines are longer than other products
- Some of the “moves” are hard to learn, but you eventually get them
- If you do not properly warm up, you might get injured
P90X Review: The Bottom Line
P90X is difficult. It’s intense. It’s going kick your butt. And that’s exactly why if you use it, you’ll see results at the end of the program. If your fitness level is stuck in neutral, purchase P90X and throw yourself into fourth gear.

Hi,
The programs works even if you have to lose a lot of weight. What you have to keep in mind is that you might need a couple of rounds before you reach your target weight.
Keep at it daily. One thing that will really help you get motivation to continue is taking pictures before you start. Measuring your arms, chest, waist.. etc.. just as it is indicated on the P90X guide, once you start noticing an inch here, 1/2 inch there, you will see how the program is working. Hope this helps, PT

These are some really good reviews, I went through the program once and didn’t get the results I wanted, I probably should have stayed with it for another round and seen what happened then but I was tired. The program is great but the workouts are really long as well and I just don’t have that kind of time in my day anymore. Is there anyway to shorten them and still be effective?

Hey Farrah,
Sorry to hear you did not get the results you wanted. Did you follow the nutrition guide? If you do not change that, it will be hard to see any difference. It is important that you eat not only healthy food, but you need to eat enough food. This is a program that requires you to eat, do not skip the meals thinking that will help you. If you skip meals, you will be crashed. Another thing you can try is to get the P90X recovery formula, this will help you to recover. It does make a difference. No doubt, if you are short on time, this might not be your routine. Although, if you are not doing anything, doing half of any P90X routine will still be better than nothing! You can try that way, it will not be as effective, but like I said, better than not doing anything at all.

I am close to my 40′s and I watched the infomercial, would you think I can do this? I was in good shape when I was younger, I suddenly want to do better
